Vladimir Dubrovsky (Rudolph Valentino) is a Cossack who is the favorite of Russian Czarina Catherine the Great (Louise Dresser), but rejects the notion of becoming a consort of the Czarina. He learns that his family's lands have been taken from them and his father has been killed. Donning a disguise, Dubrovsky sets out to punish the man responsible for his father's death and retrieve his family's lands. Dubrovsky finds that his quest for revenge becomes complicated when he falls in love with the daughter of the man who killed his father.
